Girlfriend’s Guide to Microneedling

This is the version we would tell our friends…

Do it! It is the BEST single procedure we offer.  It does a little bit of everything!

Acne scars…..check

Pigmentation (sun damage) …….check

Large pores….. check

Fine lines…..check

Elasticity problems….check

Skin tightening…..check

Dark circles ….check

Stretch marks… check

It’s far superior when compared to what you can buy for home use.  I started there too, but the first time I had professional microneedling I was blown away with the results!! I didn’t think microneedling could get any better, until the first time I added PRP! When adding PRP I had a HUGE increase in results… maybe it’s my age (hello 30’s) but it was a game changer for me.  While I find  microneedling alone very effective, I would add PRP every chance I get now that I have seen the results and compared the two.

Everyone’s pain threshold is different, but for me it doesn’t hurt at all.  I have had instances where it did hurt, but I tried our numbing cream on my face first so I could be sure it won’t hurt you! (Formulated by yours truly)

During the Procedure…. you will be numb and it will feel like a little vibration on your face…. When we get close to your nose you may want to sneeze… go ahead we’ll wait.  You’re not going to look crazy or super bloody.

We alter the depths of the needles in different areas of your face to customize your treatment! Not all microneedling devices on the market are equal, so do your research! You definitely want variation in needle depth to maximize your results. I am also realizing that “needle adversion” is a real thing, we use the smallest gauge needles to extract the blood (don’t worry we both have years of experience starting IV’s) and you can complete the entire procedure without seeing blood… so don’t let blood or the fear of needles hold you back from this amazing anti-aging treatment!

Downtime:  24 hours/ No makeup/ Red face.  I wouldn’t want to plan a date night here. Although my bestie went right out downtown with me after I microneedled her because she is a rockstar!(see pic) So really it depends on your comfort level of sharing what you’ve done with the world.

Be gentle to your face. Wash your hands before you touch it. Don’t put anything “active” on it for a few days. You may peel and feel a little tight, dry or itchy, but you will be all fresh and GLOWY soon! This recovery is much more preferable to a peel for me so if I have the choice, I pick microneedling for light pigmentation problems.

In a week you will look “ normal”, in 2 weeks you will feel great filter free in your IG photos! You’ll notice results, but the procedure will keep working to rebuild your collagen for weeks to come.  Ideally when you first start you would do a set of 3 sessions 4-6 weeks apart then 2x per year. But you know time, budgets, the real world. Some microneedling is better than none!

As always we are available for any questions. Be sure to check out our “nerdy” microneedling post if you want a deeper dive into the science behind microneedling!

XOXO,

Katie + Shauna
