Tennis is Life
So, if you haven’t already heard I am tennis obsessed! Tennis was literally my life raft amidst covid lockdown. It was socially distant, active, and mentally stimulating. For an extrovert like myself it checked many boxes when the walls inside the house started closing in. Fall of 2020 I started taking tennis lessons with a group of 10 women, it was casual and fun. We were inexperienced and socially motivated, but our desire to be good at the game intensified quickly. When our group lessons came to end, I continued to play pick-up with several of the ladies as we were all craving more and more court time. Before I knew it, I was registering a group of ladies to play on a USTA team! What? I know crazy right! I am forever indebted to the league coordinator who without fail always took my calls and answered my endless amounts of questions! Without her I am not sure I would’ve survived! Understanding rules of play, learning tennis verbiage, and locating proper tennis gear often left me spinning in circles, but I continued onward because quitting is never the answer! Also, I must mention we have the best coach and tennis mentor, his name is Brad. He’s worked with us year round since we started and clearly isn’t scared of a challenge! He has successfully managed to navigate all our tennis feelings and continues to push us forward. We will forever be Brad’s girls!
Here is a picture from fall of 2021, this was our inaugural season. We had matching tennis skirts, a team name, a few victories under our belt, and countless memories from mandatory tennis lunches! This is the season where we established two important things 1. We don’t lie and 2. Tennis is HARD.
If you are looking for the perfect tennis skirt, here are my recommendations:
Nike Dri-FIT Victory- Medium thickness, multiple color options, great price point, best all around in my opinion
Lululemon- trendy, lightweight, be sure you buy the long if you’re wanting coverage, con: items sell out quickly.
Lily Pulitzer – light weight, comfortable, shorts do not ride and are not tight on the legs, con: it has a higher price-point.
Aerie- fun patterns, affordable, comfortable, longer in length.
My advice: Buy the skirt, find a coach, & get on the court!
